Our Experiences with Right Start Math

We have 4 lessons left in Right Start Math! We just finished our telling time unit, then we went to estimating lenths, now we're on measuring liquids. It looks like the next few days are just a review of what we've learned this year and some word problems.

Overall, I've been very pleased with RightStart Math Level A this year. Timothy has enjoyed it and I like how hands-on EVERYTHING is! Off the top of my head, Timothy has learned to:
  • Recognize and write numerals
  • Use an abacus
  • Recognize place value
  • Add
  • Subtract
  • Identify coints and their values
  • Count by 2s (to 30)
  • Count by 5s (to 100)
  • Identify even and odd numbers
  • Count by 10s (to 100)
  • Read numbers to 1000
  • Recognize parallel/perpendicular lines
  • Tell time (to 15 mins)
  • Estimate lengths
  • Measure liquids
  • Complete word problems
  • Recognize halves, quarters
Overall, RightStart Math is probably a year ahead of the public school curriculum. Timothy could not really even recognize the numbers when we started this year, but now he can UNDERSTAND advanced math concepts with ease. I'm thrilled!
