Baby Belly

I cannot see my feet. I have faith that they're still there, especially since I can somehow manage to walk. However, I have no idea about the state of my feet. Do my toenails need painting? I'll never know! (I hope not, because I have sandals on at work today)

Hannah Ruth is currently transverse, hanging out sideways instead of head-up or head-down. At my last doctor visit, I was measuring a week less than at my last appointment because she has chosen to go sideways. I don't really have any reason to need her to turn head-down, but I wish she would give me a little bit of relief so I could breathe better!

My iron is staying low this pregnancy no matter what I do! If I can't get it up, I'll have to have a transfusion before my C-section and, obviously, I don't want that. I take iron pills with 150% daily value of iron. I also eat a bowl of cereal every morning that has 100% my daily value of iron. Couple that with the iron I get in my diet and I'm getting over 250% daily value of iron with NO increase in my labs! What's going on there? I read that calcium helps with iron absorption and I drink milk and take a daily calcium/magnesium pill but still no increase. Any advice?

Other than the low iron, this pregnancy's going fine!

I hope my shoes match each other, though....

  1. Milk actually inhibits iron absorption, from what I have heard. Vitamin C is what helps with absorption. Try drinking a glass of orange juice when you take the supplement. I've also heard liquid iron is more absorbable. You can find it at health food stores. Good luck! :)

  3. I was just going to comment that you need Vitamin C as well for absorption. Perhaps try lots of dark green leafy vegetables as well (juicing?) or if you can stomach it, liver (or liver capsules) are helpful.

Sometimes you need to take extra iron pills as well, you could always take extra :)
