Timothy is officially a FIRST GRADER!
Today, we did the last lesson of My Father's World K. I am absolutely positively in love with My Father's World K and can't wait to do it with Samuel (though Samuel already knows much of what it taught). I like how all year we focused on Biblical themes mixed with the science of God's world. For example, this week focused on the color Yellow as we learned about the letter Y. We talked about all the colors God created for our beautiful world!
Last week was a more difficult unit as we learned about Quail. Our words to remember were "I don't grumble or complain, I am thankful!" We read about the Israelities and how they complained about all the manna they had to eat. God sent them quail and then it made them sick. Timothy couldn't understand...he kept saying, "But...that wasn't nice of God! Why give them something that would make them sick? Why couldn't they have a little meat?"
Timothy is a very, very deep thinker. I think he might have some problems next year with My Father's World 1st Grade because of the intense focus on the Old Testament. Let's face it: there are some passages in the Bible that don't make sense to us mortal people. I guess we'll just deal with those problems when we get to them, though, and I know we'll get to them because My Father's World is extremely comprehensive.
For the next few weeks, we'll continue with ReadingEggs as we have a few weeks left on our free trial. We also plan to continue Sing, Spell, Read and Write with both boys as well as Handwriting without Tears. Timothy's handwriting is atrocious and we need to get it corrected quickly...that or prepare for him to be a doctor. With handwriting like his, I don't know what else he could do!
When we're not doing school, we'll be playing outside, catching frogs, finishing up Hannah's nursery, building a giant bookshelf to divide the room and getting our books on it, making post C-section freezer meals, etc. Can't wait!

However, like mom always told me, if you don't have anything nice to say...go find another blog!
