Our Resource: Liberty's Kids

Have you ever heard of Liberty's Kids? It's a cartoon show that tells the story of early American history. Everyday at nap time, Timothy doesn't have to nap but can instead chill out and watch a show. Since Samuel does nap, this gives us some child-free time to do what we need to do.

Timothy's rule is this: First, he watches the new episode of Liberty's Kids that we stream from Netflix. After that, he can choose whatever he wants (he normally chooses a Batman or superhero show of some kind).

I'm most impressed with Liberty's Kids! Timothy's learned about the Boston Tea Party, the shot heard round the world, and at the moment he's watching The Green Mountain Boys!

Since our curriculum does Biblical history in 1st Grade, we actually won't start American history until 2nd Grade. This is a good way to introduce him to it early...stress-free and he loves it! And he always reminds me that this is TRUE and it REALLY HAPPENED!
